An effective Girl Scout council ensures that Girl Scout program
is delivered to girls in all segments of its jurisdiction.
There are 13 Service Units (SU) in the 15 counties of the Apalachee
Bend council. A SU comprises the troops/groups within a specific
geographical area. Report codes are used to track membership within
the SU. The SU provides an ongoing service delivery system in which
troop/group volunteers support activities within the geographic
area. The volunteers gather on a monthly basis to receive updates
from the council office, Board of Directors, Girl Scouts of the USA,
and the community at large. In addition, adult volunteers are able
to network with other adult volunteers, share best practices, plan
SU events and receive support from the SU team. The content of the
meeting shall last for no more than 90 minutes and will be in a
central location. The Service Units within the Apalachee Bend are:

Service Units cross county boundaries Registration Area numbers also
are needed. These numbers correspond to the counties served in the
Apalachee Bend. Registration Area numbers are required on the
membership application for tracking membership, volunteer
applications, Service Unit nomination forms, and all product
